Serving the community since 1963
The Mariakakis family began serving Chapel Hill through a restaurant in 1963. Over the years, customers came to know the family not only for prepared meals but also for the ingredients, traditions and hospitality behind them.
In 1997, the family evolved the business into Mariakakis Fine Food & Wine, a specialty market focused on Greek, Italian, Mediterranean, Eastern European and international foods. The format changed, but the personal connection did not.
Today, customers still find family members behind the counter. That matters when a shopper needs the right cheese for a recipe, wants to compare olive oils or is searching for a product remembered from childhood.
